wow -- It looks like I need to start posting a bit more. Anyway, first thing to note is that I am now a official ghetto modder. Ive done 2 things lately. 1 -- I have an old 5-pin (old-style) connector keyboard. Dont get me wrong, its a kick ass keyboard, but I hated having to remember to bring the adapter with me to use it on a computer. I decided enough was enough, and I opened up the keyboard. I saw the normal keybaord stuff, then I saw the cable that hooks into a computer. The cable itself has 5 wires in it (2 grounds, power, clock, and data) that go from the keyboard to computer. It has a nice socket so you can just remove the cable from the keyboard, so I did that. Knowing that going from 5-pin to ps/2 (normal 6-pin)is really easy, I thought to myself, where can I find a ps2 cable. Then it hit me, I had 2 busted keyboards in the basement doing nothin but gathering dust. I opened up its case, and pulled its cable out. The sockets were different, so I just cut both cables near the socket, and wired the ps2 cable onto the socket the 5-pin cable, being careful to match pin to wire, and the plugged it back in. I hooked the new keyboard, and it works perfectly. Now 2 -- the DirectPad Pro. Its a nice little parralel port (the printer port for non-usb printers)interface device. In about 20 mins of soldering time and 3 bucks spent at Radio Shack, you can build this cool connecter and use console controllers on your computer. Yup, thats right. I built this thing the other night, downloaded the latest CVS compiled ZSNES from my friends site, and then headed over to www.edgeemu.com (friends emulation/rom site) and got a "Super Mario All-Stars and World" rom for the SNES and fired in up in ZSNES. After about 30secs of configuring my snes pad, I was playing the game in all its glory. Now, If I wanted to be really cute, I would use my video output card and play it on my tv. Next thing on the lit to build is -- a Flash Rom programmer for Nathan for his X-Box. It will be used to program the BIOS on his modchip. For now though, I am gone. I have the worst head ache right now (I think I breathed in noxious solder fumes last night...
